Jenni Vartiainen - Minä sinua vaan (I just -- you)
About the title: The word that's missing is presumably "(to) love". In the Finnish language, the order of words is very free, the verb can be the last word in a sentence and still be grammatically correct, i.e. "Minä sinua vaan rakastan". It's an unconventional word order, though, sounds a tad more poetic.
The full sentence can be translated in multiple ways, i.e. "I only love you", "I just love you", "I'll just keep loving you", etc.
Songwriting credits: lyrics by Mariska, composition and arrangement by Jenni Vartiainen and Jukka Immonen.
Original lyrics
Sitä toistelee,
Entäs jos sen voima
Niin vain vähenee?
En sitä suurta sanaa
Tahtois kuluttaa,
Enkä sanoo ääneen,
En ees kirjoittaa
Kuin karhuemo pentujaan
Ja luoja luomiaan, niin
Minä sinua vaan
Vaik leipä loppuis, vesikin,
Yksi pysyis kuitenkin:
Minä sinua vaan
Minä sinua vaan
Ja jos joku päivä
Sinä enää et,
Sittenkin ois mulla
Selvät sävelet
Vaihtokauppaa käyvät
Toiset tunteillaan,
Minä tiedän että
Sua ainiaan
Kuin karhuemo pentujaan
Ja luoja luomiaan, niin
Minä sinua vaan
Vaik leipä loppuis, vesikin,
Yksi pysyis kuitenkin:
Minä sinua vaan
Ja jos joskus syliin mustan maan
Mä sua joudun kantamaan
Niin minä sinua vaan
Kuin karhuemo pentujaan
Ja luoja luomiaan, niin
Minä sinua vaan
Vaik leipä loppuis, vesikin,
Yksi pysyis kuitenkin:
Minä sinua vaan
Ja jos joskus syliin mustan maan
Mä sua joudun kantamaan
Niin minä sinua vaan
Vaik leipä loppuis, vesikin,
Yksi pysyis kuitenkin:
Minä sinua vaan
Minä sinua vaan
Translated lyrics
People, like a mantra
Repeat it,
But what if it's power
Will diminish that way?
I wouldn't want to
Wear down that big word,
Nor say it out loud,
Not even write it
Like a mother bear her cubs
And a creator their creations, like that
I just -- you
Even if we'd have no bread, nor water
One thing would remain:
I just -- you
I just -- you
And if one day
You wouldn't,
Even then I'd have
Clear tunes (note: it's an expression, quite self-explanatory)
Others treat their feelings
Like a trade-off,
I know that
I'd -- you forever
Like a mother bear her cubs
And a creator their creations, like that
I just -- you
Even if we'd have no bread, nor water
One thing would remain:
I just -- you
I just -- you
And if someday in the ground's black lap
I'd have to carry you
Then I'd just -- you
Like a mother bear her cubs
And a creator their creations, like that
I just -- you
Even if we'd have no bread, nor water
One thing would remain:
I just -- you
I just -- you
And if someday in the ground's black lap
I'd have to carry you
Then I'd just -- you
Even if we'd have no bread, nor water
One thing would remain:
I just -- you
I just -- you
